Gaël Fabre and Hervé Lacassagne (ceremonial sword)

Aymeric Savary with Gaël Fabre (left) and Hervé Lacassagne (right)

Gaël Fabre is the blacksmith who created the ceremonial sword, the real sharpened sword, that Gallois de Fougières will wear. He is a blacksmith who makes his own weapons himself with the old methods. In this collaboration with the Gallois de Fougières project, he created a weapon of exceptional quality. As well as creating the sword, he was able to share a photo gallery with the Gallois de Fougières project, of which we show a sample here, showing Gaël Fabre's skills by watching the sword's creation from the beginning to the end.

In order to create such a weapon, he worked together with the medieval jeweller Hervé Lacassagne who did the decoration of the pommel :

The shield in the pommel is done in enamel, done in a bronze disc set in the pommel. Naturally, the arms shown here are those of Gallois de Fougières and the three letters engraved in the bronze around it are N S N, the initials of the three words from the provost marshal's motto, "Non Sine Numine" ("Not Without Permission"), seen on the bronze shield beneath which Gallois de Fougières is buried.
